08 Mar Why do I admire women chefs?
Do you admire a woman in your life? Are you proud of the achievements of a certain woman?
I know that there are lots of people who live close to wonderful, excepcional and successful women. And I also know that these women are an example of strength, perseverance and tenacity.
I want to state the importance of this
Women’s International Day was once known as the WORKING Women’s International Day and I want to state the importance of this fact, because thanks to all the historical events related to this date, nowadays women have a better life quality and much better working options.
I’m a chef, a woman chef. This would not have been possible 100 years ago since it was not until the XIX century that women appeared on recipe books, or cook books. They were only mentioned in less important positions such as helpers, or “cooks”. They had everything to be called chefs but they were never acknowledged as such.
I admire all the women cooks and chefs
That’s why I admire all the women cooks and chefs that open the doors so many other women can in this beautiful profession.
I firmly believe that being Chef is about passion, something you are born with. It feels like that impulse that gets you to play with flavours and recipes. I cannot explain it. It comes from your heart, makes you unstoppable and it fills your life as an art.
Every chef is somehow a type of artist and as artists we have in common that internal flame that leads us to create spectacular and unforgettable things.
Personally, I admire the women that work in kitchens, even more if it is at hotels, restaurants or at cafeterias.
Since it is a big challenge for anyone, and if there are many people to serve, bigger are the pots and pans that need to be carried from one place to another, also they need to be standing more than 8 hours. It is a hard job, a tough one that requires a lot of strength. That’s why most of the assistants and cooks are men.
Everyone starts with those jobs, that’s why I admire the women that have that opportunity and encourage other women to start on this beautiful and passionate path which is the professional kitchen.
I celebrate all women with difficult tasks that open the doors for the next generations
Today, (Working) Women’s International Day, I celebrate all women with difficult tasks that open the doors for the next generations with more variety of jobs and positions. I especially congratulate the Chef women who I admire, respect and thank for making my path easier and enjoyable in this wonderful career as a professional Chef.
My dream is to inspire new generations to enjoy the passion of cooking, hoping that more and more people enjoy the art of delicious and healthy cooking and by doing so discover the world through recipes.
With love
